"Hey man do you have a dollar bill for my 4 quarters?". I don't know if it was the shitty weather or the gangster attire these guys were wearing but something didn't seem right. Usually when someone asks for change, they want to convert their bills into coins. I've never heard of anyone wantin ga dollar for four quarters.
Something's fishy.
I casually respond "sorry I only carry credit" when I actually had 2 bills stashed in my wallet and watched as they walked away from me. The train finally arrives and me being the idiot walk into an empty compartment in the back of the train while the mystery group enters the compartment next to me.
Now the train is in route, I look up and the guy who asked me for change slides open the door, enters the compartment, and sits a few seats directly in front of me. At this point, I finally realize what's going on because the mystery man's friends are blocking the door from the other side. I mean who would randomly just leave his friends to come into a train compartment where I was the only person occupying it.
In my backpack, I had a recently purchased aluminum Macbook and my love for my gadgets suddenly kicked in action because I was ready to fight to my death to protect my dear baby. Let's just say the next 5 minutes in the train compartment looked like this between me and the guy.
The guy eventually got up and left without a word. This really surprised me because he was much bigger and had his friends looking out for him. I learned that day it is important to stand your ground and not look weak when you encounter a situation where someone is trying to take advantage of you,. Most of these losers do not want to deal with someone who might potentially fight back.
TLDR: I'm just glad I didn't get robbed and I was ready to go down fighting like a man rather than cowering in the corner
I hope you aren't Rock Lee, he's got creepy eyes. Glad that didn't escalate anymore...
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I don't think enough people stand up for anything anymore.
ReplyDeleteWow, great story. That's great that the guy didn't decide to try anyways. I used to carry a pocket knife with me in DC when I was traveling. I'm not a small guy, but I am aware that there are bigger people then me.
ReplyDelete@Astronomy Pirate
ReplyDeleteI can relate to that
Wow, good work not letting those bastards get to you. And I'm glad they weren't psycho's and you came out of that unscathed.
ReplyDeleteDamn, sounds like a bloody intense situation. Good for you that nothing further happened. Also that's a good book :p
ReplyDeletei would protect my macbook with my life!
ReplyDeleteI was mugged once, at college. I was holding a little Styrofoam tray of food, picking at it casually, looking down, and then I was shoved into a wall, two guys came down on top of me and started hitting me in the sides and head. They took my wallet, got my cash and ran off before I knew what was going on.
ReplyDeleteOh man, Im glad they didnt get your macbook dude, that would of sucked.
ReplyDeleteYour love of gadgets? Sounds like straight up balls to me. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, but next time be careful, you don't want to get killed for a laptop...
ReplyDeletewouw! happy nothing happend!
ReplyDeletegood job man !
ReplyDeleteGood thing you're okay
ReplyDeleteNow go home and work out so next time they dont even think it! haha. Glad you are safe buddy
ReplyDeleteAWWWWW I was looking forward to some epic beat down and something where you won! But well, glad it didn't I suppose. Would've made for an even better blog post. I think I'm mean XD
ReplyDeleteIf you get robbed, use a gun
ReplyDeleteNice one, well done. I've never been robbed, though quite fancy the challenge.
ReplyDeleteSome guy tried to mug me with a board once. He hit me over the head from behind and then I think I broke some of his ribs before he stumbled off into the night.
ReplyDeletehaha maybe you were just paranoid, close call though
ReplyDeletethe BART is dangerous! I never take it.
ReplyDeleteBrazillian Jit Jitsu FTW.
ReplyDelete^The comment above with that particular picture is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteNice story man, I wouldn't know what to do if I were you...
I was talking about Chuck btw...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on not getting robbed. Good to stand up to those types. Got I hate people to rob other people.
ReplyDeletelee ftw :D
ReplyDeletehttp://all-around-toto.blogspot.com/
Good tip, mate.
ReplyDeletegreat advice man, haha! Following!
ReplyDeletegreat read, seriously.
ReplyDeleteand you are right you have to be ready to fight, as long as they dont carry a weapon it is the best way, and it feels good
Nice job, man. Getting eyed on the train is so annoying. I always keep my gadgets to myself when on public transport.
ReplyDeletegood for you man, I got threatened with weapons so I couldn't do anything...
ReplyDeleteI'm not that brave. I wish I were. If something like this would happen to me, I just don't know what would I do.. probably ignore them till they encounter me...
ReplyDeleteGood for you! If you do get in a fight, assuming they aren't armed, take it to the ground. Most people don't know how to fight that way, so if you do, it gives you an immensive upper hand. (Plus, due to gravity, it's bound to go there anyhow. Better you do it in a controlled manner.)
ReplyDeleteyou should have called your friend who lives in russian hill, he goes by the name sasuke!
ReplyDeletealthough its good to stand up for yourself sometimes, i always try to avoid confrontation. after working security for a few years, you find out that the people who steal will do anything to get away.
ReplyDeleteI have my pepper spray...
ReplyDeletehttp://baxxmans.blogspot.com/
Wow, crazy story. My heart would have been pounding out of my chest.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog btw, I'll be checking back in.
lol good for you. but would it be worth dieing over? could've gone the other way
ReplyDeletenice one man
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I would have done. I probably would have given them whatever they wanted...
ReplyDeleteso lucky, I'm glad nothing happened with you
ReplyDeleteI cant go out at night without robbin
ReplyDeleteCan't remember, does BART have cameras, probably be a hassle to get the tapes.
ReplyDeleteGlad nothing occurred. The streets can be dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the fact that you were alert and paying attention went a long way. Nice to hear it all worked out!
ReplyDeleteThat was inspiring. I'm glad I live in a small town where that sort of stuff doesn't tend to happen, 'cause I'm not sure I'd have been as strong or savvy.
ReplyDeleteHoly eff.
ReplyDeleteI usually plan to kick a dude in the balls and bail.
Or scream about having my period.

hell yes! love stories like this
ReplyDeleteGive em the old crazy eyes.
ReplyDeleteDude, I don't think I'd have the eyes for it.
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty sketchy. I got robbed at gun point in long beach a while ago and I didn't try to fight back. I let them take my wallet, cell phone, and mac book. It was very shitty.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have crapped my pants....literally. Wait - I'm a girl! I'm allowed, right? Hell....that's scary. Glad nothing happened.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and following. Returned. And in answer to your question...it usually takes me roughly 2 hours to make my cards, give or take. :)
This is so true. I wouldn't care if a baby tried to rob me, I'd smack him silly.
ReplyDeleteI think you bring up a really good point, only prey are attacked by predators...
ReplyDeleteYou're a sick sick man.
ReplyDeletethat was scary. I would have given anything
ReplyDeletewell done, man. Maybe if you didn't carry that mac, you could have given them a couple of bucks just to avoid fighting.
ReplyDeleteLoled with the pictures you chose for the eyes
haha, everything was great till i saw the rock lee pick, i couldnt help but laugh
ReplyDeleteI started reading hoping for some fight, or something, but you just disappointed me...
ReplyDeleteJK, it's important, but if you think that they are ready to kill you, just give them what they want, and leave
Of course man. The key for not to have problems is never, but never, show any fear.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky you didn't get fucking stabbed man:/
ReplyDeleteUnrelated Randomness
Never experienced that, I don't have any protection on me in case of a mugging. I just rely on the place that I live that people around here don't really do that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you :) I would've done the same thing. Most robbers target weak people who don't fight back exactly for that reason.
ReplyDeleteBART needs to be underground everywhere. Get it out of the roads!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really lucky, but what if he had a knife or a gun?
ReplyDeletehaha yeah I always try to go to the car in the front, especially because I probably look like an easy target, being a girl and all.
ReplyDeleteThen again I'm broke as shit and don't have much worth stealing xD
I would run!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I wouldn't know what to do in that situation, my mind would actually be dumbfounded.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you. That computer is amazing. I will stab a fucker to save my laptop
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. Gotta stand your ground in situations like this. Personally, I don't go out without my steel toed boots and leather gloves. You never know when you're going to get into a scuffle. Nice blog!
ReplyDeleteSomeone tries to rob me, they will get a face full of Springfield XD. 2nd Amendment baby!
ReplyDeleteIf there's the slightest chance they'll get hurt at all then they wont do anything. Glad you didn't get robbed :)
ReplyDeleteyour a good writer, i thought this was a legit story.
ReplyDeleteRock Lee ... master of the drunken fist
ReplyDeleteOut of principal I'd put up a fight...although I'd probably try and talk my way out of it first...cool story bro
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
ReplyDeleteGreat story! I think if more people would just pop a cap in a few filthy robbers then they wouldn't have the balls to go out and reek some havoc! I know plenty of relatives who are real gangsters and thugs...THEY ARE ALL REALLY COWARDS AT HEART! That's why they have weapons. They are more scared of your reaction or what their "victim" will do. That's why they yell, and bitch, and show off their weapon.
ReplyDeleteI'd fight any punk that tried to rob me!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'd try get away by talking, but if attacker is aggressive you need to defend
ReplyDeleteGood for you. The BART stations get a lot of bad press these days.
ReplyDeleteI once kicked the living shit out of a guy for stealing my Xbox. You would've thought the guy murdered my family, but no he only stole my xbox.
Wow, harsh situation. Risky though! Followed!
ReplyDeleteMan, that's a scary situation to be in. Glad things didn't get out of control.
ReplyDeletegood for you! do you think you couldve gotten a sponsorship had you bludgeoned all the potential attackers with the macbook?
ReplyDeleterandomramblingggg.blogspot.com
You have some balls of steel, man.
ReplyDeletewow good shit. i'm guessing you're from the bay but i'm sure you know about ac transit. almost got robbed once by some punk ass kid. i threatened to kill him before he got off the bus and he backed off
ReplyDeleteI'd be fucking scared, dude.
ReplyDeleteGreat story! I will remember it, if someone tries to rob me
ReplyDeleteHe left because he knew the jig was up. You were wise!
ReplyDeletecool story, congrats on saving your macbook safe!
ReplyDeletewe gotta move to LA, sir. we'll be (a little) safer there.
ReplyDeletei think i wouldve escalated the situation even more. you handled it very well.
ReplyDeleteThat was interesting to read, reminds me of one reason why I don't like public transit haha
ReplyDeletePublic transit can really be hectic because of stuff like this. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to a new post. You haven't updated in days!
ReplyDeleteI'm so...... MAD some ramdom guy it was two of them and I was w/ my freind and his cousin we all had pocket knives just incase and we could've used them in this case my freinds STUPID cousin told 1 guy I had money the guy wanted money to go buy some weed I only had 2 dollars he stepped up I stood my ground and then he said I bet I take "yo" money. (NOT A RASCIST THING I SAID THERE HE WAS THE SAME COLOR AS ME) I stop standing ground ans bagged back so I bet he took it as if I'm weak I'm not don't get me wrong I was just in shock "ME" getting robbed for the first time I 've lived in Detroit basicly my whole life I know I could've used the knife, but I didn't want to stab him only if he would've tryed to or did touch me I would've stepped up and cut him he looked weak, but it was more people in thiere house way older we would've went down fighting I konw I seem scary, but I gave up the Money ha gve it back because my freind said my dad was coming and the second time he said with a gun I said I have a knife whenthey ran we chased them then they called them back and they came if he would've ran I would've Haked him and cut him up NO LIE*
ReplyDelete*tip to self have courage and don't stand back*
One night I was walking at a dark street with 3 other friends. One gank with 10 big guys approached us and asked for our cellphones. My friends gave them but I declined and they hitted me. Sad story, I couldn't stand up for my self because I am not the "fighting" guy..
